What do I need to learn the guitar?

As well as a guitar, I recommend getting a guitar case, guitar tuner, plectrums, and a metronome – check out the Guitars and Books page for more ideas. I suggest that you bring some spare strings just in case one breaks, but I will have some spares that can be purchased for £1 each.

What size guitar should I get for my child?

Most of my younger students use a 3/4 size classical guitar with nylon strings. A 3/4 size electric guitar is also an option. Have a look at my Guitars and Books page for some recommendations.

Do I need short nails?

Yes. There’s no way around it, you’ll need to have short nails on your left hand (right hand, if you’re left-handed) to allow you to make good contact when holding down notes.

Will I be charged if I miss a lesson?

I am very flexible. If you give me at least 24 hours notice before your lesson we can arrange a different time.
